JUST IN CASE

I thought that my blog design JAGS AT WAR is pretty cool and I am trying to project that the Jaguars will fight a battle in every game this year. I hope their attitude is like going to War.

Just in case I have a back-up design ready if they FLOP. The photo above will be part of the design and you can imagine Of course I will have to change the name of the blog to represent the photo.
Man I hope I don't have to change it.

SOFT SPOT

You all know I'm not a fan of Garrard, but that doesn't mean I don't have a soft spot for him. He's a good guy and it's not all his fault he's not a better player. I have to put most of the blame on Del Rio because he doesn't use Garrard in the right schemes etc.

I think that now I understand the reason Del Rio doesn't want Garrard to have a radio show. On the interview with sports news that I posted yesterday David revealed something that I have been wondering about.

David revealed what could be called a Sort Spot in our offense. Did you ever wonder why it seem that the offense and especially David are never prepared for a Blitz? I have always blamed it on David thinking he couldn't recognize the formation or was unable to call another play.
FLASH! FLASH! Del Rio has never had a play or plays to call in this situation. Garrard said that with Coughlin they had plays but not with Jack.

IS THAT INTERESTING OR WHAT?

I expect some kind of reaction because of this. Maybe not in public , but certainly Jack is got tell David to shut up or maybe Jack will now have to come up with special plays for blitzes.

Go back to the last post and listen to the interview again. It shocked me but put one point on the board for #9 and took one point away from Del Rio.

930 THE FOX INTERVIEW WITH GARRARD

Here's an interview with David Garrard. LISTEN

He defends himself well and I like the guy, but with that said I like the guy but I'm not his fan. It would be wonderful if he could change my opinion. So that leaves it with my contention that he is not coached right or even though he's trying hard he doesn't have what it takes.
I was surprised to learn that under Del Rio the team does not have the option to change because the defense is showing blitz....it makes sense now why they don't change up. David said that under Coughlin they had that option. SURPRISED? WHY DON'T THEY HAVE IT?
Maybe this is why Jack doesn't want Garrard do a radio show???????

Something's not right here.

Also I wanted to point out three plays that really upset me in Sat. nights came against Miami.

1. Garrard misses MJD over the middle on 3rd down. Really missed him bad man.

2. Miami's WR Marshall blocks out two Jag defenders and other WR goes in for a touchdown.

3. Jag defender does not put up arms while rushing Miami's QB and allows him to throw TD.

These are really bad plays and should never happen.

NO MORE GARRARD PLEASE!

If the Jaguars are not going to scheme and use Garrard differently this year then please just get rid of him before the season starts. What! You say? Well think back they did it with Leftwich. I'm serious I think that the Jaguars have a set limit on these guys and they will play them until they get what they think is the very most out of them. I have no idea what that limit is, but it's long past my limit for this guy.

Quite simply he can not play. He can's see down field, he can't option, he can't lead a WR, he too slow to let the ball go and the worst part is he thinks he's doing OK.

I heard today on the radio that he blamed MJD for not catching a pass over the middle. Are you kidding me "Rubber Man" himself couldn't have caught that pass. David missed the pass just like the announcers said. Did you see it? If you did you would know that it was uncatchable.

I'm trying to find out more on this comment and can't seem to find it. It was on 1010XL during the David Lam show. Maybe David Lamb had his facts wrong....he's a blowhard and I don't like him.

Maybe I don't like anyone named David. I know I don't like anyone named Reggie and thank goodness that name will not be called out at Everbank Field anymore. I'm sure they will cut Nelson loose just like they did Williams and Barlow.

I'm looking for a t-shirt that has a no entry symbol on top of a number nine. I guess the only thing left for me to do is join the David Garrard Sucks Club.

At least I'll be among some intelligent folks.

AM I NEGATIVE OR JUST CRITICAL?

Am I negative or just critical? I think I am just criticizing plays, players and schemes as I see the need for improvement or change. If I was just negative I would be like some of these Rodeo Clowns in Jacksonville that don’t go to the games or buy season tickets. I have heard so many so-called fans that say they use to go but stopped going because the team was losing so much, etc. Talk about fair weather fans, actually I wouldn’t even call them fans. I don’t know what they are but pseudo fans.

I have the right to be critical and as a fan and season ticket holder since I arrived in Jax in ’99. I bought into three more years of tickets too and I intend to keep renewing until I can’t walk or see, which was almost the case last night with one bad leg and my low vision. I can certainly see the game better at home on the TV, but after being a Redskins fan for 33 years and only being able to attend a few games I wanted and love the game day experience of being there. I love it!

On being critical I wish that Del Rio was more critical and maybe he is in the locker room away from the cameras. We won’t know but I hope he is because someone has to get on these guys. I know that, or suspect the NFL of enforcing coaches etc. to be more diplomatic and not show emotions that will give the impression that the players and coaches are just macho numb skulls that can’t even control their emotions. When is the last time you saw anyone like Ditka or others ranting in interviews? Not for years, it’s all Vanilla now especially like the forgettable coach of the Colts. What’s his name coaches that are more like politicians than football coaches. This is a big change and maybe why you see less emotions on the field too. Anyone else thinks like this or has observed this?

Next blog post will deal with kudos and Boo’s That is credit for good play, players and criticize bad plays and players

JAGS VS. MIAMI

Of course I don't agree with Del Rio who I guess is an optimist or maybe he can only see the improvements that he was looking for and not an overall improvement that the fan is looking for. I really didn't see a lot except for the first 5 minutes where the defense looked really good.

I'm so happy with my new seat. I got to see all that action up close when the Jags stuffed the Dolphins and then got a safety. Got some crazies in my new area, but I would rather have excited fans who yell and scream then folks who seem to be sitting in church.

It was a long night for us even though we left at half-time. My numb leg had shooting pains as we walked to the stadium. The front of my leg is still numb and the shooting pains were almost too much. Diagnosis bursitis, if that is what it is I don't ever want it again. Anyway we got to the stadium before kick-off (seven thirty), but we had to stand or sit on the concrete until about nine fifteen to get to our seats because of lightning, Once we got settled into our seats and feeling goo about the game the rain came and soaked us until about half-time.

OK so no sympathy for me? Well then back to the game. None of the regulars played enough to really tell how they are doing. Alualu and Kampman combined early for a sack. Garrard looked mediocre except on a first down run, you know that's his talent don't you? I'm still trying to figure out what could make Garrard better. Maybe he doesn't drop back deep enough? For certain he should be an option QB with some roll outs etc. They just won't listen to me.

Simms-Walker looked good and of course Mike Thomas was excellent, He ran a beautiful pass route for a touch-down that was just unstoppable. Mark my word Mike Walker will be an NFL star equal to Jones-Drew......You heard it here first.

Karim the run back specialist was very good. I like him a lot and I'm sure he is a shoe-in for that spot.

Pass defense looked horrible as it has for the past three years or more. Why didn't Greg Williams work out here in Jax, when everywhere else he is praised and considered one of the best? Did he want too much money? Did Jack not like his defensive schemes? We will never know until maybe Jack is fired....next year?

I realize that this is still only preseason, but somethings should show up to the average fan and so far nothing has really impressed me .......well except for the return game.

It's still a wait and see kind of thing. I just hope I don't have to sit through nine more games watching this team not stop a pass or a QB scramble.

ALUALU ?

I think this is from Mike Thomas's flip phone, amd I believe it is Alualu. I found it on facebook.

make it full screen to watch.

Here is the link on facebook also.

Here is Mike Thomas's facebook page.

I'M TIRED OF.........

Here are some things that I wish would change on the Jaguars. Most of the items you may recognize and agree with me on.

I'M TIRED OF HEARING THAT SOME PLAYERS ARE NICKED UP.

I'M TIRED OF HEARING THAT IT'S ONLY A PRE-SEASON GAME.

I'M TIRED OF DIRK KUTTER'S OFFENSE

I'M TIRED OF 0 OR 1 YARD ON FIRST DOWN.

I'M TIRED OF BEING ABLE TO CALL THE JAGS NEXT PLAY.

I'M TIRED OF THROWING THE BALL SHORT ON 3RD DOWN.

I'M TIRED OF DAVID GARRARD

I'M TIRED OF DEL RIO.

I'M TIRED OF WATCHING A NO PASSION TEAM

I'M TIRED OF THE STUPID GAME ANNOUNCER.

I'M TIRED OF THE BIMBO CHEERLEADERS

I'M TIRED OF ANYONE NAMED REGGIE.

I'M TIRED OF A WEAK DEFENSE.

I'M TIRED OF TEAMS MARCHING UP AND DOWN THE FIELD.

I'M TIRED OF VINCE YOUNG

I'M TIRED OF ANY RUNNING QB.

I'M TIRED OF GARRARD POSING AS A QB INSTEAD OF A RB

I'M TIRED OF RUN FIRST .. UNLESS IT'S DAVID RUNNING.

AFTER THE FIRS THREE AND OUT LAST FRIDAY I WAS WONDERING WHY DID I BUY 3 YEARS WORTH OF TICKETS. WHY????????

WHY CAN'T THE COACHES FIGURE OUT THAT DAVID GARRARD IS A RUN FIRST THROW SECOND QB?

I BELIEVE THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF COACHES. ONE TYPE HAS POSITIONS THAT ARE DEFINED BY HOW HE BELIEVES THAT POSITION SHOULD DO. FOR INSTANCE TYPICALLY A QB WILL HAND THE BALL OFF AND THROW THE BALL TO DESIGNED PLAYS. THE SECOND TYPE OF COACH FITS THE PLAYER TO THE POSITION BEST SUITED FOR HIM AND THEN DETERMINES WHAT FUNCTIONS THAT PLAYER SHOULD PERFORM. FOR EXAMPLE A QB LIKE DAVID GARRARD WOULD BE TOLD TO RUN THE BALL AND ROLL-OUT AS HIS FIRST PRIORITIES AND THEN THROW THE BALL OR HAND IT OFF AS HIS SECONDARY FUNCTIONS.

IF THIS METHOD WAS USED WITH THE QB WE HAVE THERE WOULD BE LESS RUSH PRESSURE AND LESS PREDICTABILITY OF WHAT THE OFFENSE WAS GOING TO DO.

I AM SO CONFIDENT THAT THIS WOULD WORK FOR THE JAGUARS THAT IT MAKES ME SAD TO KNOW THAT IT WILL NEVER BE TRIED.

I hope I have to eat my words.

ONE MORE TIME ....LUKE

One more look at Luke's highlights.

No.12 JERSEY

BE THE FIRST KID ON YOUR BLOCK TO HAVE THE LUCKE McCOWN No. 12 JERSY.

HURRY TO THE NEAREST STORE WHERE YOU.....WON'T FIND THEM YET!

ONLY ON THIS BOG CAN YOU LOOK AT THE JERSEY..

NOT FOR SALE ONLY A SIMULATION,
but let's hope we can buy it soon.

We want LUKE! click on link jacksonville.com and see all the latest Jags News.
I have to give the Times-Union credit this year especially for their coverage of the Jags. They are doing a great job. I get more info from there than any other source.

I think we all have to go back and read more about this guy. I heard on the telecast last night that Butch Davis said he was going to be fantastic. He has the arm he has the accuracy and the touch, what more do you want? Don't be surprised if he starts sometime soon. Weaver and Del Rio have both told David that he has to step up this year and it doesn't look like he is going to. David is probably the best number 2 QB in the league and I would like to see him in that position. Are there any #12 jerseys for sale??
Jack and Wayne both know they are in trouble if David doesn't step up so they may make a bold move to bench David. I am in favor of it and I think David will be ok with it. David has character and will make the best of it and maybe even recapture the starting job, or at least try to.

I'll post more info on LUKE when I find it, or if you have some send it to me.

VS PHILLY IMPRESSIONS

First two offensive possessions were terrible and made me sick to my stomach. Same old plays, same old Garrard, same old throwing short. Sick Sick
Defense looks ok but still waiting to see if they give up because the offense doesn't show.
WHY DID I BUY 3 YEARS OF SEASON TICKETS?
Defense is OK...I feel they will come together. The offense still stinks but now they have tow weapons Jones-Drew and Mike Thomas. Simms Walker the jury is still out. Where is Zack Miller ?

OK back to the game.

LUKE LUKE LUKE the crowd asks for Luke to take over the starting job.

Again the crowd wants LUKE LUKE LUKE....AND YES ANOTHER TD!

DAVID WHO?

What is wrong with Scobee? Is he hurt? 17 yard line and 15 yard line???

It's amazing how much more I am relaxed when David is not in the game. I'll say it again,,I like David but he is not a number 1 QB. If he was used in a different way , with a lot of running plays he might do better. But I am tired of telling people because the Jags are not listening.

A while back I wrote about all the LB's on this team and then they got some more. Maybe they know what they are doing. I like Gilbert and the work of the others.

LUKE LUKE LUKE..........OH MAN THIS IS WHAT WE NEED...AND THIS WILL SELL TICKETS.

Nine minutes to go.........look for a call for Luke next week at the home game as we play Miami.

RUN DAVID RUN.....RUN DAVID RUN....

After watching the scrimmage last night at Everbank Field I was more convinced than ever that David is too slow to throw and too slow to run. The safe bet in that case is to run. RUN DAVID RUN....RUN DAVID RUN.....RUN DAVID RUN....Maybe they can plug this in to hie ear piece or maybe it can get stuck in his head like a song. I'll be chanting this from the third row so maybe he will hear and it will activate his feet?

I'm trying to make my case that David Garrard should run the ball more to take some pressure off the rush. Below is an article from New England coach Bill Belichich.

"Oh, my God, yeah," coach Bill Belichick said. "I'd say he's probably the best runner we've seen this year. Because he can run, but he can also break tackles and cut back and avoid people. He's tough to bring down in the pocket; a lot of people bounce off him. He's like a sixth receiver for them. On third down, you've really got to account for him." Click on link below to read the full article.

I know that they do have some designed plays for him, but he is going to do the best when he decides on his own to run. He is slow to decide to throw and he is slow to run. Somehow they should encourage him to run more. He is an excellent runner.

Join me in the battle cry "RUN DAVID RUN....RUN DAVID RUN.....
If it does nothing else it may put the defense to rush with caution? maybe ?

TYSON OKLAHOMA DRILL

ALU ALU AH... YEAH

I just finished watching the ’82 Redskins on the NFL Network last night and it was such a good time recalling that season. I lived in Washington D.C. area for 33 years. This was one of our greatest years and John Riggins was on of the reasons. “The Diesel” has they called him punished the defense with hard run after hard run.

I was thinking today that Tyson Alualu is going to be that kind of punisher on the defensive side of the ball. During this season as he progresses we will have to find a nickname for him too. Maybe “Steam Roller” or just “Punisher” will work. I can hear the announce saying “There goes Alualu steam rolling through the line again.” Or “That guy is punishing that offensive line.” Let’s see what develops ok?

If you have any ideas maybe along with a sound effect like Riggo had the diesel horn let me know.

I GOT IT MAN! REMEMBER YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST!

Here’s the chant , to the sound of LOUIE LOUIEY .....OH YEAH....ETC.

WE WILL CHANT “ALU..ALU...AH .....YEAH YOU GOT 'A GO NOW!
I’ll be chanting this at the scrimmage on Friday night....can you join in with me?

Tyson Alualu

This guy is the real hope of the season. My hope is others will play with more intensity and passion that Tyson seems to have.
This is the one big HOPE that I have for our team. It's amazing how just one unselfish determined player can make everyone else better. Read more on our HOPE.
while I'm at it today I want to thank the Times Union for really doing a good job of covering the Jaguars this year. I think they have stepped up their coverage and they will be one of the biggest influence in keeping the Jaguars Brand out there to create interest for tickets. Thanks T-U.

Here is more on our HOPE from the Jaguars.com videos.

I really have a guy to pull for that I believe in.

DT D'Anthony Smith

This is one thing that has me worried....injuries! We have a great bunch of young guys but we are very thin in depth.
So our third round pass rush guy is probably out for the season.
What happens if Garrard or MoJo is hurt? We have to stay healthy in-order to have any kind of season. All the hopes were not on D'Anthony Smith alone for the pressure but assuming he did work out what now?
Maybe Gene and Jack will have to go shopping?
Let's hope some unknown steps up and surprises us.

TRAINING CAMP

My football buddy Sue, known as "Big Sue" in her Roller Derby days, went to Training Camp on Sunday Aug1. We got to see a lot of players and started to put their numbers with their names.
I had a list of players I wanted to watch, but some of them didn't show for one reason or another.
Del Rio was coaching the linebackers and you could hear him from the stands.
The linebacker regulars Smith and Ingram wasn't there but I got Kirk Morrison's attention and told him we were pulling for him this year. He gave a thumbs up.

Sue and I got seats together a couple of years ago. We have been friends for quite some time. She had a seat up in the section behind me and we decided that we should get seats together and we could save on parking etc. We have a lot of fun and the games.

We got our picture taken at the Training Camp by the Times Union Newspaper. Click on the link to see our photo.

Oh by the way this year Sue and I changed our seats to Row C ,third from the field, so if you look at the action in the North End Zone, opposite the Bud Zone , you should see us to the left of the goal post in section 122. Just look for the guy with the Jaguar Hat and a Wife Beaters shirt and we'll be to the right of him, or just look for two normal looking people who are not dressed like some kind of fanatic.

MEET MR. WEAVER OWNER OF JAGUARS

This is a good video interview with Wayne Weaver. I really do like this guy. I just wish he was on TV etc. more. I believe he is trying hard.
Go Wayne Go Jags
