GAME PLAN

When I first started this blog the idea was to give my "battle" plan for the Jaguars to win the game. That's why I called it jag-wars. I thought this team would fight in every game as if they were in a war. Well things haven't worked out like that and I have to go to plan B and the Jags should also go to plan B but I'm not sure they have one.
My plan B is just to keep saying how I would do things different then what has become predictable from the Jags.
Here are a few points.
The Jags regularly say they want, or have to get off to a fast start.

If this is so then why do they differ when they win the coin toss?
This is contradictory to getting off to a fast start.....how do you get off to a fast start on defense? Think about this also, does this show confidence in your team? NO

This is just one item I wish they would try and I see no reason why they don't except that maybe they have no imagination?
Later I'll have some more brilliant plans that will just live and die here on this page....but they are brilliant if I must say so myself....and I do.
Later more brilliance from me.

My plan B.   If we win the coin toss choose to receive the ball and have some of your best short and long passing plays ready to go and go on a fast count no huddle offense. Doesn't this make sense to you? For sure there is not a team out there that would be ready for the conservative Jags to have this kind of plan.

CLOSE TO 60 YEARS OF FOOTBALL

I probably watched my first game on TV back in 1954 on my uncles TV. We might of had one at home but it seldom worked. We watched the Browns because we lived in Ohio, but the best team at that time seem to be the Lions. This was football all the violence and mud and snow and just plain mean guys. Sort of like longshoremen in uniforms.
The coaches and the players cursed and chewed tobacco and spit on everything that didn't move and sometimes things that did move like opposing players. The coaches would slap the players upside their head for doing something wrong and didn't hesitate to bench them no matter how big a star they were. The coach was the boss and the players respected him.
The NFL has tamed football and to me has changed it to the point that it is to sanitized. The coaches now have to be diplomatic and talk like politician's so as not to damaged the reputation of the NFL or the owners. It wasn't that long ago that Ditka and other coaches still behaved like coaches of the old school so it hasn't been a long time since the change.
It sure would be refreshing to hear a coach or an owner tell it like it is just once. No cursing or that but just say the team stunk up the place or we hate those darn Cowboys. Let the front office relate to the fans for once....say something we want to hear , say "THE TRUTH" and don't white wash it.

NOW WATCH SOME REAL FOOTBALL.

LET US ENTERTAIN YOU LET US MAKE YOU SMILE

You know the song and others like "There's no business like show business" . Well let's admit it folks NFL means entertainment. They have all the stars and news makers, bad an good, and who gets all the attention? You know who those that sell tickets or are in demand by the public.
If this is not an entertainment business then why do we have cheerleaders, fly overs, drum corps, bands music, fireworks etc etc.  Please let's get real.

Think of this. The fly over doesn't come off for some reason. The cheerleaders  all wear parka's, the music system doesn't work, the fireworks fizzle, the drums break and the bank plays horrible. Now think of this everything comes off without a hitch...actually it's the best fireworks you have ever seen in your life. The weather is great the food outstanding....but.the team plays terrible. The team is part of the entertainment and if the team breaks down the entertainment falls apart. We want it all to work or at least be decent.

Am I right? Yes of course I'm always right.

So Wayne Weaver today threw a bone to the fans. They brought in another clown that is equal to the clown that now QB's our team. He knows that even though this guy has about the same ability as the one we have at least we can maybe see someone else bomb. We like to cheer and we like to boo and having someone else to cheer for a while or to be able to boo that guy too is entertainment.

Come on man lets us sing some sad song let us sing some glad songs and we'll surely make you smile.

Look up at Wayne during the game....he's always smiling....why because he knows it's a fun game.

So bring some bananas for the Colts to slip on and when some one says your team sucks you say Yes they do but you are having a good time aren't you. Say thank you for coming to Jacksonville and we are so glad that we could entertain you today. Have a safe trip home and be sure to come back and see us again.

NEVER NEVER LAND

PLEASE PLEASE NO MORE GARRARD. GO OUT AND PICK UP PATRICK RAMSEY OR ANY OTHER QB THAT HAS STARTED SOME GAMES.

Garrard has no clue as to what went wrong.......oh really!  It was you man first of all and then everyone else.
listen to his interview......CLUELESS.

If the players were upset guess what?  They will be more upset after they see the film.

WORST SHOWING EVER

Oh yeah the west coast trips were bad and we would stink every now and then at home, but yesterday was the worse game the Jaguars ever played. I don't see any come back from this. It's been three years now of suffering through some horrible loses at home and on the road.

You all know how I have been telling the Jags and the coaches to change the way they use Garrard and to do things differently. Like my last posting I suggested, with a little tongue in cheek that they should do like George Canstanza and do the opposite. Someone on Jaguars.com challenged my coaching record. I told him I had never coached but then I have never lost a game either. Right now as long as the Jags don't change I am looking like a genius.

Not once did the QB take more than a 3 step drop. This is stupid, so stupid I shouldn't have to explain. The defense is not afraid of what Garrard can do and the coaches make it easier for the defense by putting the QB in the same spot every time. No 5 or 6 step drops, no roll outs and no option type plays.

There was no single player to give some credit to except for Kampman who has played enough years that he has not been influenced by a stupid coach and Tyson Alualu because Jack hasn't ruined him yet.

I'll be there next week but I'll be wearing my Redskins colors so I don't have to be embarrassed by all the Colt fans in the stands. It was unbelievable how many Eagle fans were there and how loud they were. I blame this on Jacksonville people who don't buy tickets and those that do and sell them to on line to make a few bucks.
Shame on you season ticket holders who stay home and those folks in Jax that don't buy tickets and come.
The price of tickets here are very low and so low that the opposing teams eat them up like free candy.
Some of the Eagle fans in front of me said this is the only way they can see the Eagles play. They get the cheap tickets and travel here. Well they had a great time yesterday. Del Rio you should have to sit in stands just one time surrounded by the other teams fans and endure a real razzing.

JAGUARS GET MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER "GEORGE"

George Costanza  of Seinfeld fame met with the Jaguars players and coaches today to get them motivated for the game against Philly.
George figured that what worked for him would work for the Jaguars.

DO THE OPPOSITE!
So if you notice a different kind of team today you will know they took his advise.

EAGLES VS JAGUARS AND THE MEDIA

You know how hard I am on the Jags, but that's because I see faults and flaws and hope someone will listen and try to fix them.
I really do believe that the Jags can beat Philly and I think they will do it by 9 points. Why? Because the Jags are a lot better team then they showed last week against the Chargers. Could it be the Chargers are a lot better team than the Eagles? Yes and the AFC is a tougher conference than the NFC.
I think we will see the Jags get a few sacks of the unsackable Vick. The LB's for JAX will be very active and have a lot of tackles. If they can do good against Vick then they can do good against V. Young of the Titans which is more important for us.
Another reason I want us to win this game is to shut up the NFL who only talks about the Eagles right now and try not to even mention Jacksonville. WE GET NO RESPECT.  That's not a new feeling for me because in the early days of the Washington Redskins (late sixties) they were hardly ever mentioned. I remember Howard Cosell use to review all the games on Monday Night Football and one week he left the Skins off the show. Fans in DC were outraged but, a new coach A MEDIA DARLING and some wins got the attention of the whole nation. If you think you understand the NFL then you should know the media end of it like the NFL Network is run like a news outlet or even more so like a gossip rag. So like the National Enquirer the NFL wants current stories.....Like Micheal Vick or Tony Romo, or some of the other Stars like well you know who gets attention even though they do nothing special.
The NFL in support of all teams does and injustice to the trade and the financial balance of small market team.by not giving them some air time. Believe me all you experts who didn't want the Jags to draft Tebow, you are wrong. Tebow would have brought the media attention thus making more interest even locally and be such selling more seats. Fans who normally stay home would see more film clips and commentary and be influenced to come to the games. They would want to be part of IT.  UNDERSTAND? WAYNE DO YOU UNDERSTAND? THE JAGS ARE IN THE ENTERTAINMENT WORLD AND NOT A SHOE COMPANY.JERRY JONES KNOWS THIS AND EVEN THOUGH THE COWBOYS HAVE NOT GONE ANYWHERE FOR YEARS THEY OWN THE MEDIA'S ATTENTION AND THUS BUILT ONE OF THE GREATEST STADIUMS EVER.

WHO IS LISTENING TO ME? JACK, WAYNE, GENE, MAYBE MJD ?

WIN NOW OR PLAN AHEAD

TALK ABOUT EMPTY SEATS!
It will take the Jaguars to pull off a miracle to put people in the seats next year. From what I see they are not planning ahead. EVERYONE with any brains knows that Garrard and maybe Jack will be gone next season. So who is going to be the QB? Certainly it won't be Todd Bouman, he'll be back in MN watching the NFL Ticket like he was this year.
Maybe now it looks like drafting Tabow would've bee a good idea because at least we would have a prospect in waiting. What do we have now? NOTHING MAN. Why didn't the Jags take a couple of days to find a backup QB there are some out there that could possibly be a starter. Patrick Ramsey for one. Instead they go to someone ,(Who knows the system)???? What system? We try to run the ball off tackle or up the middle and we try to throw the ball 2 or 3 yards short of the first down marker. We don't have a system. That's why everyone can stop us. We are about as complicated as a bad high school team.

Planning ahead.....what do you see for next year? I see a bankrupt team devoid of any future stars. I think this must be the Jaguars 10 year plan and we are now at year 5. In about 3 more years we will finally have a QB that is very good and we will start building a line again to protect him and by the year 2016 we will have a serious contender, but will the team be here in JAX?

If I'm wrong you show me where this team show promise in the next two years. I DON'T SEE ANY PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE. IF THE PLAN INCLUDES GARRARD THEN I WILL ASK FOR A REFUND ON MY SEASSON TICKETS FOR THE NEXT TWO YEARS.

If Garrard was coached right the NFL Network would be talking about the dangers or Garrard not Vick.

BACK-UP QB

SO THE JAGS RESIGN TODD BOUMAN AS BACK-UP FOR GARRARD. WHY DIDN'T THEY SIGN PATRICK RAMSEY AT LEAST HE LOOKS LIKE A FOOTBALL PLAYER AND HE DID PRETTY GOOD WITH THE SKINS FOR AWHILE. .......MAYBE THEY WANTED TO SAVE MONEY SINCE WITH TODD ALL THEY HAVE TO DO IS PAINT HIS HEAD LIKE A HELMET.
HELMETS COST MONEY YOU KNOW.
A ALWAYS BE A BACK-UP ...OR ...A GUY WHO HAD A LOT OF STARTS.
SOMETIMES I THINK THE JAGS DON'T THINK THEY JUST KNEE JERK AND THEN GO TO LUNCH....AND THERE'S NOT EVEN A GOOD PLACE TO EAT IN JAX.

WING T OFFENSE?

OK here it is two days out from our loss in San Diego and I’m working hard on plays and schemes for the Jaguars Offense. A couple of people on Jaguars.com are agreeing with me but I really need to get the attention of the coaching staff.
So listen up Jack!
I have been talking and talking about using Garrard’s ability to run the ball as a way to slow down the rush and also make the 8 in the box go away.
The solution is sort of like an option QB position, but with a lot of motion by the FB,HB and TB or slot man. This is how I see it.
With the Wing T formation it would work like this MJD as the HB and Greg Jones as the FB and Mike Thomas as the TB/ Slot man and Garrard as the QB of course. With motion there will be no give away as to who will get the ball.
The QB turns toward the man in motion and then instead of handing off the QB runs it instead. Everyone will be closer to the line exept maybe the slot guy. The Jags can not take the time for the QB to go back and meet the runner and hand the ball off, You have all seen what happens with this play....we get stuffed. There is too much time for the defense to break into the line and stop the runner. Quick opening plays will work. I think I understand why the Jags take so much time at the line of scrimmage, and that is to eat up time? Or to make sure no one jumps? Anyway we use this way too much of the time.
Fans in the stands know what play is coming.....DOES THAT TELL YOU SOMETHING?
Here’s a drawing of the Wing T can’t you see some plays from this that will work and make David a more productive QB

ANY DOUBTS THAT HE CAN RUN?

KUDOS

Now that I have blown off some steam in my last post and it's been 24 hours since our loss, I want to give some credit to some players. I really did see some bright spots that give me hope.
I'm sorry to say the #9 D. Garrard is not one of them.
First of all on Offense
#11 M. Simms Walker stepped up good with ten catches.
#19 T, Underwood looked to be improving.
#23 R. Jennings is looking good and ran strong.
#89 M. Lewis is going to be a star, it's taken some time but he is really coming on.
So that is 4 out of 11 on Offense that played good that's like only a third. Notice there wasn't any
O Linemen on the list and that's because there was no protection and we couldn't run the ball.

Now for the Defense
#36 C. Greene Outstanding that's why R. Nelson could go to the Bengals.
#74 A. Kampamn his motor is always running.
#31 D. Jones I have to see more but he played better than #21 D. Cox
I'm sorry but that's all the players I can remember playing hard.

I was sorry to see QB #12 get hurt and out for the season. I had hopes he would be the next starter. He led all QB's in the NFL Pre-season stats.

It's going to be interesting who we pick-up for the back-up QB. Maybe Leftwich? ha ha

OK let's go and clip some Eagles wings and cook them up southern style.

Let the New Cannon Roar......and by the way put a live round in it and shoot the know nothing announcer.

WEST COAST JOKE

BIG CAT LAY DOWN

Once again we are the laughing stock of the west. No wonder no one talks about the Jags. Who wants to talk about a bunch of losers?
I was impressed with the effort in the first half, they looked like they were fighting hard, but once again when it got out of reach they quit.
I'm still concerned about MJD and the running game. Like a lot of teams they don't take Garrard serious so they just tee off on him, knowing he can't pass the ball.

Where was some runs by Garrard.....oh OK I'm tired of asking for it or mentioning it.
RUN DAVID RUN ......WILL NEVER HAPPEN....ROLL OUT PASSES WILL NEVER HAPPEN.

GOOD BYE DIRK...OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR......FIRE HIM NOW DEL RIO IF YOU WANT TO SAVE YOUR JOB. GO TO A WHOLE NEW SCHEME EVEN AT THIS LATE DATE.

Jennings looked good....use him more...also 2 blocked kicks.

ONCE AGAIN MAYBE I SHOULD CANCEL MY 2ND AND 3RD SEASON TICKETS.

IT HURTS TOO MUCH TO WATCH THIS TEAM I CAN GET NFL PACKAGE AND STAY HOME AND WATCH SOME GOOD FOOTBALL TEAMS.

Luke had his chance to maybe win the starting job....but he lost his control and threw too high.

THESE MILLIOARE PLAYERS CAN PUT THIS BEHIND THEM TOO EASY.....FOR US FANS IT'S LIFE AND DEATH. IF THEY FELT LIKE THE FANS THEY WOULD PLAY BETTER......CHALLENGE THIS IF YOU CAN, BUT I REALLY BELIEVE THAT THEY DON'T REALLY CARE WIN OR LOSE.....PROVE ME WRONG PLEASE..

NO DEEP THREAT

The Jaguars offense will look very much the same as last year. Again they have no deep threat so teams will defend against the run and short passes which is all we can do.
Our only chance is for "Butterfingers" Underwood to catch some passes otherwise with Troy Williamson "Lard Hands" there is no other deep threat and if there was Garrard couldn't get it down field anyway.
We'll see a lot of 8 in the box and a lot of 1 and 2 yard runs. I would like to see the stats for the Jaguars on first down. It seems to me there are a lot of 1 yard or loss of 1 yard on first down. Why do they continue to try to run this play? I am so tired of seeing it and it makes for a depressed feeling. I imagine the players at this point are saying to themselves; " Here we go again, no gain and a wasted down."
Mark my word the first play on opening day will be MJD up the middle for 1 yard. They can say all they want about having to try this play, but until they stop being so predictable it will continue to be a wasted play. The Jags have to change their tendencies because everyone knows them and not changing them is to ask for the same results.
My prediction for the Jags this season is an 8/8 season and miss the play-offs. We will be lucky to go 4 / 4 in division and the remaining 8 games we will also split.
I haven't seen anything during camp and preseason to think anything better than 5o% wins record.

NEXT WEEK WILL TELL

Well folks it wasn't much of a game last night, but a win anyway. I think that preseason games are getting worse and worse as far as intensity or passion. I'm starting to think like a lot of others that they should get rid of these games and play only games that mean something.
Fans live and die with every game but the coaches and most players don't. I don't care what anyone says I can not understand playing a game and not playing to win. This kind of attitude trickles down from coaches to players and I don't know how or if players can turn it on or off at will.
Well they better turn something on next Sunday, because it is for real then.
Brock Bolen was the best thing I saw. He looked like John Riggins to me. I think that means that Greg Jones is going bye bye.
Fans get ready to scream and yell and drown out the signals of the Broncos. The NORTH END ZONE sure shook up the offense of the Falcons last night. NORTH END ZONE RULES MAN!
I think the south end zone is drinking too much beer or something. They are no match for the SUPER FANS OF THE NORTH END ZONE. We are the 12th man and everyone knows it. The other areas of the stadium can try to show us up, we welcome it.....but you better bring your lunch.
