THIS YEARS TEAM MAKE-UP

Looking at the team make-up and the concentration on certain areas I say that this team is built to Run the ball and Stop the run.
This is OK and should keep you in some games. With this make-up I believe the best the Jags can do is 8 and 8 this year. Not good enough for the play-offs.
Other teams see this make-up too and will do what they have done for the past several years, they will put 8 in the box and stop the run. No one thinks the Jaguars can pass the ball, at least not down the field.

The Jags can not pass the ball to set up the run, they are one dimensional.
Here is the team, OL, DL, LB's that is where the whole concentration has been. They did not or could not work on the CB's , Safeties or the WR:s so they are saying to me THIS IS IT UNTIL MAYBE NEXT YEAR WE CAN ONLY STRENGTHEN SOME AREAS.

Unless something happens between now and the season opener this will be our team. Hopefully they have an ace or two up their sleeve. Like maybe a veteran WR or a proven Safety?

OK LET'S MOVE ON

I've been concerned with ticket sales and the players that we have and wanted more more more, but now it's time to move on.
I want to start to learn more about the players we have and start getting pumped up for the season. We are what we are so now I have to support the team. I'm going to look for bright spots and concentrate on them.
Please excuse me if I slip back to a critical mode of some of the players, but by and large I want to stay positive and hopeful.
I feel Garrard is going to be better this year. So GO DAVID!

Here's some others that I expect to contribute more this year and maybe even become very productive. Mike Thomas, Sims-Walker, Zack Miller, Derek Cox and Rashad Jennings.

Here's a list of the new guys that I think will be good this year. Tyson Alualu, Aaron Kampman, Tiquan Underwood, Kirk Morrison, Scotty McGee.

Now I also have the task of remembering their numbers and faces. I got to get to work because it's BATTLE TIME. Go Jaguars!

PLAYERS

I don't know about you but when I get to watch and listen to the players I get encouraged. I wish the Jags would put their video interviews etc. on Youtube or at least have it so you can embed them in your blog. These videos need to reach the public. That is why I am putting them on here and facebook. The more we get to know the players the more we feel part of the team.
For instance in the above video I realized that Shan Constaine will be back at SS and he is good. I forgot that he had been injured. He's a good tough player.

BILLBOARDS

Just when I start to get a little excited about the Jags the rug is pulled out from under me. Today on the radio I heard that they were going to restrict scrimmage's to season ticket holders only. I'm all for that but it may have a bad side too.
This franchise is trying to build a fan base, whether they know it or not. Sometimes I don't think they know it. I have been saying for months now that Jags front office, namely marketing is preaching to the choir. The marketing people are only getting the word out to sports fans, season ticket holder, sports radio listeners, and those that check the web for info on the Jaguars. NO ONE OUTSIDE OF THIS CIRCLE KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT THE JAGUARS, THE GREAT TICKET DEALS.
I have told a lot of folks about the 30/30 deal that I took advantage of and they had no idea that the Jags were offering deals like that.
Has Mr. Weaver ever heard about BILLBOARDS, BUSES, NEWSPAPER INSERTS? What the Jaguars need is a MEDIA BLITZ. They should have done it years ago and they have to keep it up until they create tons of interest and a FAN BASE.
How else can they sell a 22nd or 24th ranked team to the public? Winning will help but to get the stadium packed year after year they have to sell sell sell there BRAND.

This feeling that they are not doing the job of selling this team trickles down to feelings that they are not fielding the team they should too. The whole thing comes down to management and marketing.
Maybe next week I'll see some CITY BUSES painted with Jaguar images and announcing ticket deals, or maybe I'll see BILLBOARDS all over the city.
The best term for the this dilemma is the newest term going around lately. THE JAGUARS ARE DISCONNECTED FROM THE CITY AND PUBLIC.

ENCOURAGED

I just went on Jaguars.com to check what was new and found some new video interviews. I was encouraged by the talk or Osgood, Jones-Drew and McGee. I guess I needed to hear more from the players to get a "feel good" rush.
I've been pretty tough on the Jags and especially the organization, but man I love this team and I like the character of the players now. I'm hopeful and I hope that you will be too after watching some of these interviews.

Go check the newest videos out now! http://www.jaguars.com/multimedia/

GO JAGUARS

We may not have everybody I want but maybe this will be a TEAM.

BEST JAGUARS NEWS

You want more good reporting on the Jaguars? Go to the Times-Union web site. Jacksonville.com and check out their stories.

I went on the Jaguars site for news and the most recent story is about Special Teams. The story on Jaguars.com written by their reporter is so much different than the story on Jacksonville.com that you can plainly see the slant. Not only that but the newspaper site has more photos, videos and better comments. The newspaper site is an easier read.Black on White is alone better for reading.

Here is the link to the Times-Union page on Special Teams
I like the video of the ST's coach Purnell. He's my kind of coach who tells it like it is. Seems to be a no nonsense kind of guy.

I recommend the Times_Union site. Join up and make comments there. The facebook and Jags site are not for me. I check them just to see what's the talk, but for the details, story line videos and opinions I go to http://jacksonville.com/jaguars
I know that NEWS is not the business of the Jaguars, but they should do a better job of presenting their PRODUCT. A better designed web site easier to read with much more videos. There is so much that goes into selling the TRADE NAME and I think the Jags are trying better than before, but they have a long way to go. I'll certainly point out things they need to do.

Here is just one. A professional team should have a professional announcer on game day, not someones cousin who forgets what down it is or even the players name. How much more would it cost to pay a better person with more personality? Think of some of the flavor and characters of sports who captivated the city and made people want to come to a game. I don't mean a guy that shouts and screams but one that knows the game and is exciting to listen to.
Just don't hire Bryan Sexton for the job...I already want you to replace him too. He has a good voice and may be knowledgeable, but he has no flavor man...he's total Vanilla.

I think that Mr. Weaver put the whole thing together like he would his corporate shoe company. Mr.
Weaver this isn't a shoe company, it's sports, fans, and emotions. I have never cried because the shoe I wanted was sold out.

TACKLING BASICS ?

Mil Tucker Defensive Coordinator talks. I'm sorry but this guy doesn't give me any confidence. Shouldn't all the plays already know how to tackle? Head position, angles, wrapping up etc. Sorry Mel but you don't make me feel better. He is just like most of the modern day coaches; well spoken and politically correct. What has happened to the traditionally coach that tells it like it is. I'm tired of this soft soap talk.

I want a coach that spits when he talks and has tobacco juice running down his chin. I want want that curses a little and kicks the dirt and even grabs a playing once in awhile. I don't want one that sounds and appears like he's running for some office.

Mel said they have competition at all positions....I don't think so...who is challenging "flag football" Reggie Nelson?
Early in his talk he only slightly mentioned the secondary. Only saying there would be tighter coverage with linebackers helping? It almost like saying the front 4 will have to stop the run by themselves?
Give a listen.....oh by the way...I wish he wouldn't have said "Stop the run on the way to the QB" Daaah

COMPETITION AT KEY POSITIONS

Here's what has been bothering me for the last month or so. It seems like there will be no more players coming in to compete at some of the key positions.

There are three very weak positions on this team, as I see it. QB, SS, and WR. Why haven't they got some good players to come in to compete at these positions? It's as if Wayne Weaver has said "Just go with what you have and make it work."

Well what we have will not work. David is not a starting QB that can win. Think back even with protection he can't get the ball deep or to receivers on a timing type pattern. He can't get the ball out quick enough and he can't read defenses or he doesn't know how to change the call.

Simms-Walker who is he? He is average at the best. If he does come on this year, so we have one receiver? Why didn't we go out and get TO? Or why didn't Tory Holt stay on? You know why. Tory didn't want to tarnish his record.

SS or any Safety is needed. Who do we have? Reggie Nelson? Everyone knows he can't play. I think they have a limit set for draft choices that don't work out, I figure he's on his last year, but why even let him play? Please dump him now.

OK I know that we have a good looking TE in Zach Miller and Mike Thomas can catch pretty good and our offensive star Jones-Drew can catch and run, but they are not WR's and also by the way forget Marcedes Lewis, I have.

With all of this known now what kind of a team will we have? We will have what they hope to have and that is a ball control team. Short passes and run the ball and hope the defense can hold. They have about 200 linebackers now so I guess that will help?

The trouble with this is; The other teams will have WR's and in the last minute they will throw the bomb and beat us.

The Jaguars are what we thought they were.
Am I too negative? Maybe right now but I will be there for the next 3 years just like I have for the last ten years.
If you have an opinion write a comment or email me....but show me your season tickets first.

JAGUARS DEFENSE HIGHLIGHTS

I want on youtube and the NFL video highlights to find some video clips to put on here. I wanted to see if there was any out there since I love DEFENSE.
Guess how many were on YOUTUBE? 0 000000 zero man...goose eggs.
Guess how many results were on NFL 9,251 results for “jaguars defense” was the number that came up but guess what there was 0000 there too. Only some Jones Drew highlights so I guess our DEFENSE IS ALSO JONES-DREW. that sort of raps up what I believe. No defense and the only team member of value is #32. How long can we ride that train?
OK then I'll put a Jones_Drew highlight on here for you.

IT'S WAR BABY

WELCOME!

I love Defense and the years that the Jags were making shut-outs were the best years for me. Those years were thanks to Mike Smith, I guess since we haven't had anything like it since he left.

I will be writing from time to time about my thoughts and frustrations. I may sound negative at times but believe me I would like to be proved wrong and I'll be the first to apologize for my mistakes or opinions.

I've had season tickets since I moved here from Washington,D.C. in 1999. I was a Redskins fan for 33 years and I still want them to do good, but my allegiance is to the Jaguars. I always go with the home team where ever I move to. Anyone that lives in Jacksonville but cheers for another team that visits the stadium is
