FROM WHERE I SIT

THIS IS HOW I SEE THE JAGUARS TODAY

It was a tough loss but , after a couple of days to think about things I'm realizing that it's not the end of the world. We do have a good team a good coach and progressive thinking owner. Just count all the changes that have been made. Some are subtle and not many have talked about them. How many people recognized that the Jags had a new play by play announcer that actually knew what was happening.. Finally a professional announcer. One of the best improvements is this web site. You know that you can't get enough videos and chat about the Jags and you know that you can't get it from the TV especially not the NFL network. Once the season starts you want all the videos and talk you can get. Jeff Lageman is doing a five job along with the others. All this will spark interest and help keep the fans fed.
sure we want to win and that will come. Anyone who has read my stuff knows I can really be hard on the Jags but , because I see the changes overall it leads me to be more positive.
A loss by 20 points is not that earth shaking. The way we played it should have been by more points than that. This tells me that the Texans were limited by the Jags defense to short run and passes which consumed a lot of time. So it is not as bad as you think and we will bounce back. Look around the league and there were losses worse than we had. Some were really discouraging. Dallas, who I hate, got beat by the identical score and they are not throwing in the towel. So take a deep breath and put a smile back on you face. Support the home team. GO JAGS.

OPEN LETTER TO MR. KAHN

Mr. Kahn here are some things I would like to suggest. I understand that I am only a fan,but I have been a fan since 1957 the year I graduated from high school.  I have seen more football then some of the coaches today have and I have seen things that work and things that don't.

I don't know how you can implement the feeling that the fans are like stock holders but that is a goal that will pay off big. Everyone says that the players have to "buy into the vision" and that's correct but don't forget the fans have to buy into the plan also. The fan needs to feel like he is really a part of the team. We need to keep the 30/30 plan and maybe even add a 100/100 plan. I would buy into that. The fans need a voice and to know that that voice is being heard at the TOP.

The Jaguars really have no tradition yet and we are in need of something unique to our organization. Of course a WINNING tradition would be first on all of our list but after that we need something else. Taking the best from college football and adding it to the pro game could be a marching band. I went to the Gator Bowl yesterday and the atmosphere of a band just goes with football. Mr. Marshall understood this when he started the Redskins band. I would sponser a seat and I'm sure that others would do the same. Maybe Kahn Bumpers would sponser a band. Yes...Kahn's Bumper Band including the D-Line would be nice.

Now my thinking on a Head Coach. I beleve if you keep Gene Smith then you should give Mel Tucker a 3 year stint to go along with Smith's contract. this is not my choice however. I would not keep Gene Smith because he was involved in all the bad draft choices too. Yes he found a couple of good ones but the odds are he would. what ever happens in the next few years will be blamed on him. the real problem with keeping Smith is the Head Coach and GM relationship is critical. To ask a coach to come in under a GM that he may not favor is a gamble. the HC / GM should be one in person or act as one person. This opinion has no bearing on Mr. Tucker.

In the upcoming draft we must get some quality WR's as everyone knows. I suggest that we also draft a QB or two, because I am far from sold on Gabbert. Gabbert to me is not an athlete. He stumbles and bumbles and looks like he is scared to death of getting hit.
Compare to other rookis this year he is by far the worst. Maybe he's a good practice player in that case we can keep him for just that purpose. You need a tough guy for QB. Despite some of his short falls Garrard was a tough guy and maybe you remember that Joe Thiesman returned punts and kickoffs to get on the field with the Skins.

Every fan I know is excited and hopeful that you Mr. Kahn will be a great owner and give us something special to celeb

CHANGING THE IMAGE

As you can see I have replaced the title image to make it look more threatening, just like I would like the team to appear to opponents.  The image I had was too pretty and serene like from a zoo.

Most of the photos I found on the Internet were just to docile. Like this these below.
OR THIS ONE SMELLING A FLOWER
AND THEN THIS ONE REMINDED ME OF OF
THE TEAM LAST MONDAY NIGHT
OR THIS ONE THAT WAS POSING FOR A GLAMOUR SHOT.
OF COURSE CUTE WAS OUT

I JUST COULDN'T DO ANYTHING ADULT LIKE

I THOUGHT ABOUT THIS ONE FOR AWHILE, BUT IT WAS THE WRONG COLOR AND MAYBE IT WAS JUST AN OVERGROWN HOUSE CAT...BUT SCARY TO BE SURE

BY THE WAY HERE'S THIS CAT'S TRAINER

THIS ONE HAD PROMISE BUT THE TOUNGE WAS THE WRONG COLOR

THIS ONE WAS LOOKED HUNGRY LIKE I WISH THE TEAM WAS, BUT MAYBE A LIT LE TOO WEAK

I EVEN THOUGHT MAYBE " FA,PISE JAGUAR LADY"
 WOULD SERVE THE  PURPOSE

THE ONLY OTHER SERIOUS CONTENDER WAS THIS ONE.

MAYBE I TAKE THIS TO PHOTO SHOP AND REPLACE THE MAN WITH A FOOTBALL PLAYER?

GOT ANY OTHER IDEAS? LET ME GO TO MY FRIEND AND SEE WHAT HE HAS ON HIS MIND.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND GO JAGUARS!

AND BTW
LOOK FOR ME IN THE NORTH END ZONE I WILL BE WEARING MY NEWEST JAGUARS GEAR

OH YEAH !

YES I DO HAVE A LOT OF TIME ON MY HANDS

NOW WHAT?..PUNT?

Wayne  ... Does this have to happen before you see the light?

It's quite clear now that this organizations is really screwed up. they have put a lot of effort into selling tickets but they have no idea how to build a team. Putting together a team seems to be an after thought. Maybe this works in the shoe business but not in the NFL.

Not long ago we were told that they were going to build through the draft. HUH? Then they go out and get at least 5 free agents (this was the only thing good to happen lately). Although this move was good because the defense is playing good, I still don't like the fact they say one thing and do another.
Del Rio does the blame shifting thing when asked about the game time management.

There is an old saying " Coaches coach and Players play". Here in Jax we only have Players playing. If we really had some coaches / teachers / developers maybe a lot of those failed draft choices would still be playing. I thin this point is proven by the fact that all those defensive players came in as veterans and with out an ounce of training or instruction (because of the lock-out) they played great. This can not be contributed to coaching.

The really big screw-up of the century is not drafting Tebow. If WW is not kicking himself in the backside , even in private, then he really is out of touch. Everyone would agree that Tebow would sell tickets and bring much needed media attention to Jax. Now it also shows that he is doing pretty good as a second year QB. Ask yourself this question.....right now ...who would you buy a ticket to go and see: Tebow or Gabbert??? If the reasoning was that Tebow was too raw and gauged to not ready, then how is Gabbert comparing now?

The first order of business to fix this mess here is a complete house cleaning and for WW hand over football operations to someone who really knows football business and let him choose a GM and then the GM will choose a coach. It has been proven that there is no stock within the organization to promote.
When the going gets tough the tough get going....so Wayne fire Del Rio to start and shop for a director of football operations. The fans and the city will respect you and for once trust in your judgement.

Right as Rain

httpJaguars.com
Blaine in the rain....that was the highlight of the game. It shows what he can do. As for the Offensive  Game plan in the last two games I wonder what they are doing. All of a sudden it looks like the whole scheme is changing and we are trying to be a pass happy team?

I don't get it? The only thing wrong with the O before was Garrard held the ball too long and wasn't very accurate on some plays.  Don't trow the baby out with the bath water Jack and Dirk.

I really wanted to come down hard on Del Rio, but he was so positive on the post game interview that I just couldn't dump on him. I still think that he is one who is going to be told "It's GO TIME!" at the end of the season, but maybe it's my age but I seem to be softening some what lately. If he leaves I wish him well and I do believe he will leave. He has had 9 seasons to do something. That's a long term for a coach.

Jones-Drew and Mike Thomas are still my favorite play makers and Lewis is right there too. We have a big task facing us Sunday at Home against the Saints/ Drew B. has chewed us up the last time we played him. I hope the defense has learned to handle the West Coast type of Offense. I think they can do it.

GO Jaguars.....play hard and have fun.

CONTINUITY

Continuity that is the reason to keep Tucker and Koetter. I believe that we have missed that in past years with coaches leaving or being fired. JDR has gone through too much of this and I for one want the team to stay together one more year. There is a lot to be said for continuity and if you look at some of the good teams they have keep everyone in the fold.
Gene and Jack did a great job of getting the players to be a TEAM and now maybe they can improve what they had instead of having to learn a new system from a new coach.
Listen I have many doubts about this team and I picked them to go 8 / 8 last year in June. This year I am picking them to go 9 / 7 here in Jan. I may change that again in June or July depending on the draft and training camp to 10 / 6, any record above this will be wonderful. Hopefully it will be enough to get us into the play-offs.
It's strange that I'm writing this because I have been one of JDR and his coaching staffs biggest critics.
Anyway I'm in for another year with bright spots being Special Teams. New play makers with another year of experience namely Jennings, Hill, Lewis, Alualu, Knighton, Cox and maybe Zack Miller. Oh yeah and the return of Kampman.
I could end up wrong and disappointed, but then it wasn't my decision to keep Jack anyway. All I can do is go with it and try to hope for something positive.
If they do good and get into maybe even the second round the I wouls say they may even do better the next year.
Look for an update after the draft and free agency.

OK SO WE GO WITH JACK

OK so we stay with Jack for another year.

It may surprise a lot of you but I agree with keeping JDR for another season. The one big reason was pointed out by Wayne Weaver and that is the "culture" of the team. I give a lot of credit to Jack Del Rio and Gene Smith the GM for getting rid of some bad players who didn't buy into the vision and a lot of players who had character problems.
Together they turned around the character of this team and made them into a TEAM that believes and works together.
That is so very important and I wish them luck and I am behind them 100% this coming year. Now don't think that means I won't be critical, because I will be. Continuity is almost always good.

GOOD LUCK JACK AND GENE
WORK HARD
GO JAGUARS

NEXT YEAR

Yeah I'm recovery fast from the disappointment. Up early in the am and looking for answers. Jack are you sleeping well?
I checked out the Jacksonville.com Jaguars page and they already have posted the opponents for next year. Here they are Our division foes of course at home and at their home.
Then we have Balt, Cinnci, N.O., Tampa, San Diego at home
and then away we have. Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Carolina and Jets.

Here's my take on this
On the surface this looks like an good schedule, but as we know all of these teams will be different next year and you can't judge them on this years record.
We still have to build up to beat Indy and if we can the rest of the season will take care of it's self.
It's still the same for us...be able to beat the Colts, Texans and Titans and we'll be a good team. Even if we can split in the division we will be able to handle anyone else.

WE MUST FILL IN THE GAPS THAT ARE STILL GLARING WEAKNESSES.
SAFETIES
PASS RUSH
CORNERS
QB (this is always easy to put blame here, but good players on both sides of the ball can make a QB look good and I'm not sure it's all the QB's fault) In Garrard's case 33% I can fault him for holding the ball too long and not seeing the field as well as not being able to change play other than switch to run or pass.
AND YES BOTH LINES STILL NEED TO GET BETTER
+
PLAY CALLING OFFENSE AND DEFENSE
HEART OR SPIRIT OR AN ID OF PASSION

I ALWAYS THING THAT IF THE PLAYERS LIVED AND DIED WITH THE TEAM AS THE FANS DO THEY WOULD NOT HAVE BACK TO BACK LOSSES. GETTING PAID FOR A BAD JOB OR GOOD JOB DOESN'T MAKE AN INCENTIVE.

Good luck Mr. Weaver in making decisions upcoming. It's going to take more than Marketing and Team teal to put fans in the seats this coming year.

I'll be there again for my 12th season.

JUST IN !

Jaguars QB David Garrard is having surgery, not on his eyes like I said, but for his finger and will be out for the game Sunday. I really see this as JDR's way of saying you're finished with this team. Get your finger fized and we will trade you next month. With Trent Edwards in as QB this could be a real shoot-out and I think we can win and be encouraged for nest year too.

MY OBSERVATIONS

HERE'S A LIST OF THINGS I HAVE OBSERVED THIS YEAR.

The players were more media friendly
The Jaguars site had more videos
We had a lot of exciting games.
The team played as a team and hung in the game
Pot Roast became a star
Mike Thomas because a star
Mercedes was great
MJD was awesome
LB Smith was good
Cox came on this year
Mathis needs to go
Garrard needs to go
What happened to Zack Miller?
G Jones has to go
30 / 30 plan was good
Alualu is coming along
Still need Safeties
Still need a QB
Need more run and receiveing from FB
Need LB's and DE's that can beat Manning
If we build to beat the Colt's we will do well
If one coach goes they all have to go

SHOULD HE STAY?

SHOULD JDR STAY?

This may surprise a lot of people but I think that Jack should stay. One of the reason is that he cleaned house and got players that want to play as a team. I really think that they will play for him and like how he treats them.I think it is Jack that gets them back to playing their roles correctly after they have gone astray and try to do too much. He doesn't really do the "Blame Game" in public and the players like that. I'm not sure but maybe he has gotten the players to talk more to the public and media, thereby making them more accountable to the fans. Does anyone understand this?  Here is what I have noticed. In the past the players were isolated and thereby  were not accountable to the fans because they were isolated and thereby protected. The players have to be out there for the fans and if they are they have yet another reason to play well. At least that is what I think. Who ever is responsible for this did a good thing. It really got the fans more involved. One other thing good about JDR is that he finally started to use Garrard in a better way, using his talents to run.

Now for Garrard as to if he should stay or go. I say GO! I think he has trade value and we should trade him soon. He has proven that he can not change some of his bad habits. He still and always has held the ball too  long. He can not look of a defender but looks to the receiver the whole way. David reminds me of a boxer that closes his eyes and hopes he hits his opponent. Good by David you tried your best but it's not good enough.

DISAPPOINTED?

Don’t hang your head Jaguars !  Yes I’m disappointed at the loss but not at the effort and the teams spirit. This team has shown real character that you don’t see on any other team. Think back to the game where we had six turn-overs. We didn’t fold then and the game where it took a “Hail-Mary” to win or just last week when we came back with a kick return and a great run. This is a team that just keeps plugging away and I am proud to be a fan.

Oh yeah I was on David’s case and JDR’s case at the beginning of the year. I got upset with how they were playing David and how they didn’t seem to be on the same page. I don’t know what happened but something changed this team. First of all they become a team. Each man doing his job and not over playing their area.  Maybe Del Rio has finally gotten his message through and they are all pulling together now.

I don’t want to hear any back biting or excuses that is what kills teams. Stick together and we as fans will stick with you too.

JUST REMEMBER IT’S A TEAM and if you do next week and the week after you can enjoy the fruits of your labor.

GO JAGUARS   PLAY HARD   HAVE FUN.  AND THEN ENJOY!

COMING TOGETHER

Even with the loss I feel that this team is coming together. You can feel it. I was still hoping that they would pull it off and I really felt that they could.
I have not been a Garrard fan but I feel that they have started letting him be himself. You can just feel them helping each other and caring for one another.
I for one is starting to believe in this team. THEY CAN DO IT.  I'm even starting to believe in JDR too.
Two problems I had with the play. One I told the TV cover Boss. I just knew he was going to get the ball, because he was the only guy that was getting open and he was mostly uncovered on the line. OUCH, If I could see it why couldn't the coaches or players??? The other thing is that they do have to work on protection or maybe schemes would be a better word for those must throw times. The max protect works good at times but if you use it all the time teams find a way to collapse it. The Jags have to come up with more formations like spread them out and call QB draw or pitch.

R E S P E C T

We played a good game and I think we got some long due respect. Don't hang your heads fans or players. We know now we can play with the best and we are not out of the race.
Next week we have to play well again and even better because it's a conference game. We can and will handle the Titans and go on from there.
Garrard is going to make a believer out of me yet. I've been hard on him but couldn't find fault today.
GO JAGUARS

THE SOLUTION

I have finally figured out the solution to the Jaguars problems.
We keep MJD, POT ROAST, KAMPMAN, MIKE THOMAS and maybe SIMMS-WALKER and cut everyone else.
We fire all the coaches and hire ANY out of work coaches and let them elect one of their own as head coach.

My solution came about when I noticed how no name players out of work seem to come in and play real hard and do well. These kind of guys are journeymen and having been out of work know they want to keep a job.
They don't care about the glory or the press clippings, they just want a job.

Too many of the Jaguar players are like a lot of players in the NFL they have too much money and they think that just by showing up they will somehow win the game and become a star.

Football players need to go back in time ....to old school play for the love of the game and feed their families.

Do you remember the Replacement Players that came in during the last Players strike? Well they were a bunch of no name guys that wanted a job and they helped the Redskins to win a Super Bowl.

SO DO I KNOW WHAT  I'M TALKING ABOUT OR NOT?

SCRUTINIZING THE JAGUARS

THIS IS THE BRAIN OF THE JAGUARS TEAM
JUST LIKE THIS LADY WE INTEND TO SCRUTINIZE IT TO FIND OUT WHY IT DOESN'T WORK.

The front of the brain seems normal but smallish like the rest of the brain. In the front we find the gray matter to be made up of coaching input. It seems normal enough but the lines are not deep which normally tells us that discipline is light.
Now the right side of the brain is the passion for the game comes from and it is smaller in the central part that makes us think that part of the brain has no passion for the game.
Now the left half of the brain is very deformed and this usually tells us that there is a division of thought. One part thinks this is what should happen and the other part thinks the opposite therefore causing what we call "scatter brained".
Now in the central part is the ability (some times called talent) center and although it appears to be normal it has not been stimulated enough and used enough to see it grow.

Now in layman's terms.
The input from coaches has not been clear and ofter confusing.
The passion for the game has to come from within like it does with MJD and others, this passion can also be inhibited by the wrong signals coming from the coaching staff.
The central part of the brain is the hardest to understand. Here we know we have talent but a lot of talent has not been developed. Talent ? what is it? People have said if we had more talent everything would be ok..oh yeah what about the talented Cowboys? HUH?
Maybe you won't believe me but the Jags have a lot in common with the Cowboys. No matter what
YOU HAVE TO PLAY AS A TEAM!  It's just like the whole brain working as one. The Cowboys wait for their Stars to make the plays and the Jaguars don't trust each other and each guy thinks he has to make the plays. Talent is over rated man. Team work is the ultimate. JUST DO YOUR JOB MAN. STAY IN YOU LANE GO WHERE YOU ARE SUPPOSE TO GO WITH YOUR READ. SIMPLE ISN'T IT?

WEARY

Nothing to say, no suggestions, no feelings. I am weary of this team and will not even watch their game against the Cowboys next week.
There is no way the Jags can win and I can not stand to see Dallas win. My day is only complete when the Cowboys lose.
So for the Jaguars to lose that's bad enough but then for the Cowboys to win that's a double hit I just can't take.
It's been too long for us fans that sit there in the stadium every week and be abused by this group of non players.
I really don't even want to go to the next couple of home games.
I HAVE LOST ALL HOPE FOR THIS BUNCH

IS IT A SIGN?

Jags are bringing in Patrick Ramsey to save the day. Get him up to speed before the Dallas game and we will win that game.....you heard it here first.
DO YOU THINK THE JAGS ARE FOLLOWING MY BLOG? NO ONE ELSE HAS MENTIONED HIM FOR QB EXCEPT FOR ME.....YOU THINK?
remember my post asking for the Jags to get him?

Oh and one more thing.......Ramsey is a SOUTHPAW...remember we had a LEFTY once and he was very good for the Jaguars and oh yeah wasn't there another left handed QB in the draft this year?
Maybe the front office got off track when they drafted LEFTwich thinking he was left handed? Maybe Let's just hope.
IS IT A SIGN?
